We help local communities live in harmony with wildlife, and save our gorillas, by reforming poachers and helping children’s access to schools, to get an education.
The Mubare Biodiversity Conservation founded on the interdependence of Human-Wildlife Conflicts. This follows mountain gorillas being injured or killed by local people during poaching other forest animals.
With our intervention of combating human-wildlife conflicts through poaching, were designed to reduce poaching. As well the organisation sensitizes frontline communities, including local schools, on the importance of wildlife conservation and reforms traditional wildlife animal poachers for sustainable livelihood activities
Created the first Bwindi Reformed Poachers’ Centre in Uganda where former poachers introduce their traditional wildlife poaching methods to tourists and students.
Poachers accepted to abandon their hunting tools to form their own association and participate in community projects such as livestock, bee keeping, growing of vegetables, coffee, tea and trees. Some are directly involved in conservation activities; others lead tourist groups in the area.
